Update to India Forestry ICPR - Fumigation on arrival for logs in ship holds
This update is to advise you that the India forestry ICPR has been updated to reflect new information for methyl bromide fumigation of logs in ship holds on arrival in India, in lieu of treatment prior to export. There is no longer an end date stated in the ICPR for this option. An MPI Notification is being sent out to subscribers of Forestry Export updates.
Note: This will be reviewed if MPI receives any further information, or if another phytosanitary measure is approved where fumigation is not required on arrival. Please note the following conditions:
1. Applies to breakbulk logs in ship holds only. Deck-stow breakbulk logs, containerised logs and sawn timber are not included and must be treated prior to departure.
2. It is recommended that the NZ Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) approval document for Methyl Bromide is made available for Indian officials to inspect on arrival.
3. Exporters should be aware that logs exported without pre-shipment treatment are at their own commercial risk and are dependent on the availability of treatment facilities in India on arrival.
4. As logs are not being treated in New Zealand, to meet the assurance given by the phytosanitary certificate without treatment, the logs must be inspected to as per section 1.3.2 (2) of the Phytosanitary Official Assurance Programme for log exports (Logs OAP)
5. The Additional Declarations (ADs) must be stated, and point 4 above must be met to declare the logs are free of quarantine pests.
